Lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, celebrating her 85th birthday, recently offered insights into her personal philosophy on aging, cosmetic procedures, and romantic relationships. Stewart emphasized her commitment to a natural aging process, steering clear of extensive surgical interventions.
Embracing a Natural Approach to Beauty
Despite decades in the public spotlight, Stewart stated that she has never undergone plastic surgery. "I have not had any plastic surgery at all. I don't think I need it," Stewart conveyed to People magazine.
Instead of surgical alterations, Stewart attributes her maintained appearance to diligent skincare practices, regular facial treatments, and a consistently healthy lifestyle. She clarified her beauty regimen, noting, "I use a little bit of fillers. I go maybe once every four months for touch-ups." Stewart characterized her approach as one of consistent upkeep: "I'm more a maintenance kind of person. I'm not getting boobs done and hips and butts and stuff like that."
Evolving Views on Relationships
Stewart also discussed her perspective on romantic partnerships in her later years, indicating that the desire for a companion has diminished with age. When asked if she still envies friends in happy marriages, she responded, "Now, it's less important. The older you get, the less you really need a mate, I think."
She further elaborated on her preferences, stating, "I wouldn't want to be beleaguered with an older, ill person."
A Birthday in Maine and Lifestyle Secrets
To mark her 85th birthday, Stewart shared a photograph of herself relaxing in a hot tub during a visit to Maine. The image depicted her unwinding in a black swimsuit amidst the tranquil setting of her expansive Maine estate, surrounded by evergreen trees, with a large pool visible beyond the hot tub.
"I am going to use this amazing hot tub every single day I am in maine," Stewart captioned the post. "Invigorating restorative Therapeutic relaxing." The post quickly garnered numerous positive comments from admirers, with one fan remarking, "Damn serving face too," and another adding, "Martha you are everything truly."
Stewart maintains that age is merely a number, stating, "I don't think about age. Eighty-five is just a number; that's all I consider it. I don't want to have a party. It's not a big deal." Her primary objective, she noted, is "to keep learning about everything."
She largely credits her vibrant appearance to a disciplined lifestyle she has upheld for many years. "I have good genes. My mom looked great at 95," Stewart shared. She further detailed her habits: "We eat well. We don't drink very much. We don't smoke. We eat healthy food. We exercise daily. I horseback-ride." Her regimen also includes waking at 3 a.m. each morning to complete daily puzzles before embarking on her day.
A Legacy of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
Turning 85 has not diminished Stewart's drive. She recently recreated her 1995 People magazine cover at her 156-acre farm in Bedford, New York, reflecting on the extensive career that established her as a preeminent authority on homemaking.
"I still am a perfectionist. I still like to do many things at the same time. I like to do all the same things I've pretty much always done," Stewart affirmed, though she expressed a desire for more leisure time. "I'd like to have a little bit more free time. I don't have any free time at all, but I'm working on that."
Originally from Nutley, New Jersey, Stewart started her career as a model before launching a successful catering business and publishing her inaugural cookbook, "Entertaining." This laid the groundwork for an expansive empire encompassing magazines, television, retail collaborations, and home product lines. In 1999, she achieved the distinction of becoming the first self-made female billionaire in the United States.
Her extensive accomplishments include authoring over 100 cookbooks, establishing restaurants, and becoming the oldest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model at age 81. Stewart continues to expand her ventures, which now feature her home intelligence app, Hint, a dedicated skincare line, and various brand partnerships.
When questioned about whether she possesses everything she desires, Stewart pointed to her latest project: "No, I don't. I didn't have an app for my home, and so I'm making one," she concluded.
